Diabetes means testing your blood sugar, which means using a pin prick device and a blood glucose monitor. I got my nurse to take a photo of me doing it for the first time, just before I was discharged from hospital.
It didn’t hurt.

Earlier in my career, I was a technical writer for some medical device software. I was quite excited to see the instructions that were included with my blood glucose monitor, although it was a bit sad when the nurse opened the box and didn’t read them.
I mean, I know nobody reads the instructions, but doing that in front of a technical writer….
